Not all products have online sales prospects: online corn sales plan

I'll tell you about my experience when planning an online product sales in Indonesia. I found out that a particular product didn’t have great prospects when sold online. It is precisely these products have a high sales prospects when sold directly or offline sales.

In the village where I live is the majority of the villagers are farmers and usually during the rainy season as many who grow corn. But the corn grown by farmers is not the usual corn that has a large size of seed corn, but it kind of corn with a small size. The trend of small corn because it has higher prices than large corn. In addition, the harvest period is shorter than big corn.

In Indonesia, this kind of corn called crystals corn. Small sized corn are used as bird food, especially pet birds who have a voice, shape and beautiful colors. With corn seed that has a small size, the corn will be easily eaten by birds. Many pet bird communities who need seed corn that has a small size for their pets food. Tons of crystals corn produced by farmers around my house successfully sold at higher prices.

Well, from the condition I was thinking of selling online the corn crystals. Because I can get the products directly from farmers with normal price and sell it directly to consumers at retail price, so that I will be a greater advantage. I started doing simple research from Google Adwords, it turns on the keywords in the keyword planner show that very few that use keywords that I was looking for. Averaging no more than 50 people per month.

Then I tried how the corn product seller on the internet. There are two methods, the research of the online marketplace in Indonesia as bukalapak and Tokopedia. Then I also see the company's website or personal selling crystal corn products for birds.

It turns out the number of sellers of corn crystal products is low. Sellers in their respective online marketplace bukalapak Tokopedia and not more than 10 sellers. And on a website or blog is not more than 5 sellers. Even more websites and blogs that provide information about corn. In the internet, Crystal Corn seller competition was small, but is this an opportunity? I think this is not an opportunity.

Crystal corn sellers  that I found in the online marketplace, the average of their products have not been sold. It also happened that sell through blogs and websites. Imagine what if we made the decision to sell the corn crystal online? Perhaps we would like other online sellers crystal corn.

Fact crystal corn business opportunities


The evidence suggests the crystal corn still needed and many people are buying. This fact is supported by higher sales of crystals corn by farmers and the high price of corn crystals.

After I seek information from various sources, that in Indonesia many pet food store. Well, there are many crystal corn sold there.  For example, in the town where I lived , so many pet food store and easily accessible by the customer . Likewise with other cities that many stores sell pet food .

With so many pet food store that sells crystal  corn, then this will weaken the crystal corn sales online. Imagine when buying maize online, the buyer must pay the price of corn and shipping costs. Though the crystal corn can get easily in the pet food store. I think this is one of the factors that influence the buyer in the purchase of corn crystal. They prefer in real stores closer, than to buy in the online store.

The crystal corn business may have a great opportunity for farmers, because of the number of rare and many are in need.
